This senior project has given me the opportunity of working with the things I love - biking, and Bangalore. I worked on ways to give back to the city of Bangalore, where I lived for 10 years. I asked myself, how can I make the city better? As I was biking around my neighborhood one day, it hit me: I could work on a bike share system. How do we set up a viable bike sharing system? There are already many bike sharing systems in place across the world, so the question became:

Does Bangalore need a different kind of bike sharing system?

I analyzed the different bike shares around the world and identified the factors which play a major factor in whether they are a success or not. I then analyzed them within the context of Bangalore, came to the conclusion that Bangalore indeed has different issues to solve than existing bike shares, and proposed a solution.

At the same time, I bought 20 cycles and have begun setting a proper bike sharing system in India as a Dry-run to gather more data. I will continue this research and business after I graduate from high school.

Throughout the project, I learned how to apply knowledge to create real world solutions. My bike sharing model also has the potential of helping cities in the third world similar to Bangalore.

I will be presenting on my research the coming Tuesday May 16th at 6pm at school. Wish me luck!
