There are lots of bike share systems out there that I can learn from. What do I learn? While each of these systems are different and have their own unique set of problems, there are certain aspects of their models that can be incorporated for Bengaluru as well.
Identify the factors from existing programs across the world
Define the goals and problems that are unique to Bengaluru
Propose a solution
Dry Run in parallel
My approach to the research project is to analyze the various factors that make a bike sharing system unique. To analyze how each bike sharing system is solving their unique problems. None of these programs may work across the board as the contexts for each place seem to be different. I am going to analyze about 15 bike sharing systems to make a common template to identify the factors that drive the success or failure of bike sharing in their specific locations.
Analyze multiple systems, identify the factors, define the context in Bengaluru and the unique problems and challenges, and propose a solution. Utilize the learnings from the others locations. Derive the strategy from them.
4. While this is an academic project, I am also doing a dry run to identify the practical issues of implementing a real system. This will be a fully functional system and every role will be staffed.
